How to make a Trusted Site with IE (internet explorer)

Making a trusted site is easy and great because you can allow low security for any site. Note: That you only want to make a site trusted if you know there are no damaging pop-ups, spy ware, or viruses involved. So I will give you the reason you are doing this for our site. Well the reason is we have run out of room in placing data on one page. There is so much data to give out to the public that we have to make pop-ups come up with additional information. So if you read the instructions below they will help guide you in making www.marshallgis.org a trusted site.

1.     Open Internet Explorer

2.     Once Internet explorer is loaded up, type in the address bar www.marshallgis.org/viewer.htm

3.     After the map viewer is loaded up, then you need to highlight www.marshallgis.org/viewer.htm. To highlight text all you have to do it hold the left click and drag the mouse across the text. Then right click anywhere in the white address (WHILE THE TEXT IS STILL HIGHLIGTED) and click copy.

4.     Now in the top of the browser window, go to tools. Then go to Internet Options.

5.     Now that you are in the Internet Options Menu, click on the Security Tab.

6.     Click on the green checkmark that says trusted sites.

7.     Now that you are in the Trusted Sites part of Internet Options, click on sites.

8.     You should get another pop-up. Now this is where you need to pay attentions. Make sure you that in the bottom left hand corner you have (Require server verification (https: ) for all sites in this zone) non checked. If you do not then your going to get an error every time on the next step because it wants an https:\\ address.

9.     Ok last but least right click on the white text box below (“add this web site to this zone”) and click paste. If this doesn’t show then you messed up the first part of the steps and if that is the case just place this address in that white text box. (www.marshallgis.org/viewer.htm) Then click the add button. It should place http://www.marshallgis.org in your list websites.

10.                        Now just click ok twice, then close out of the GIS Viewer and open a new IE window. Once you do that go back to www.marshallgis.org/viewer.htm and now you can view pop-ups from this site all the time now. (Note: This doesn’t affect the pop-up blockers like Google toolbar or Yahoo toolbar!)
